Pet Radiography Veterinary Services in Troy, NY
At Troy Veterinary Hospital uses digital x-rays, which allow for an accurate and quick diagnosis. We offer digital x-rays in-house, so you’ll know the results in minutes. We’ll send the x-ray images to your email address, or you can take the digital file home with you.
Our staff uses radiology (or x-rays) to learn about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate). This tool is used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to provide a list of potential causes for a pet’s condition, identify the exact cause of a problem, or rule out potential problems.
How does it work?
An x-ray beam enters its body and strikes a piece of radiographic film. The images on the film are in various shades of grey and reflect the animal’s anatomy. Bones appear as light grey structures because they absorb more x-rays. The lungs, for example, absorb fewer x-rays and appear as dark grey structures. The ability to interpret radiographs requires a high level of skill on the part of the veterinarian. Our team is well-versed in this area.
